Club improvements - Exciting News!

Dear members,

Exciting news.

We are doing some major improvements to the club, which will greatly improve the gent's changing area, the external space and add a new flexible space for future use.

The works is in 3 main parts ..

  • External area. We are installing a new roof over part of the astro-turfed space at the side of the club. This will be timber framed with a clear roof. It will have some nice lighting and external heaters, making a far better beer garden area.
  • Male Changing Room. This is being extended and completely re-fitted, which has been needed for many years now. This will provide new showers and toilets within the changing area, allowing the existing toilets to better serve the bar. The changing area will have new benches, hanging space and bag storage.
  • First Floor. The enlarged changing room will be extended upwards to form a new large room above. This will be accessed through the balcony above court 2. This new room will initially be used for storage, but we are hoping (when future funds allow) that this will provide improved female changing and maybe also a small gym area or meeting space.

We have attached layouts of the club (existing and proposed) and also a few images of how the new changing room will look.

We have received a grant from Sport England towards the works and are also being supported by Blankney Estates. The remainder will be funded by the club.

The external canopy is due to start in a couple of weeks.

The works to the changing room will start towards the end of July and are targeted for completion by the end of September - ready for the start of the team squash season.

This will mean that the gents changing room will be out of action for 8-10 weeks. We hope you can bear with us through this. Our plan is to make the ladies changing room primarily available for the male players during this period.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please have a chat with any member of the committee when you see them.

We really thank you for your continued support throughout this strange time and hope you enjoy the new improved club when these works are completed

The committee
